With effect from January 2001, the software interface
between Multiflash
for Windows (Infochem
Computer Services Ltd.) and MATLAB
(The MathWorks Inc.) will change
its name from 'The Multiflash MATLAB VB Interface' to:
- The Multiflash Interface for MATLAB
-
Reasons for the change:
- The change conforms to new guidelines from The
MathWorks relating to the use of the name 'MATLAB'
in naming MATLAB-related
third-party products.
- To change will reduce the number of search-engine
results that list the product in response to MATLAB
users seeking web-based information on interfacing MATLAB
and Microsoft Visual Basic.
Background
The Multiflash Interface for MATLAB is part
of the Multiflash for
MATLAB product offered by Infochem,
which comprises the The Multiflash Interface for MATLAB developed
by KHACE and Infochem's Multiflash
for Windows.
Multiflash for Windows has optional
interfaces for programming in 'C' and Visual Basic. These interfaces
comprise a set of sub-program calls to the Multiflash for Windows Dynamic
Link Library (DLL). The original name was chosen because The Multiflash
Interface for MATLAB reproduces for the MATLAB
environment the complete functionality of the Visual Basic
interface as a simpler set of MATLAB
functions, with enhancements for vector, matrix and array
arguments. The term 'VB Interface' was included in the original product
name to distinguish this interface from any further, future, interface
developments.
